Happy Chinese New Year! I have been waiting for this date mostly since the New Calendar year. Well actually the end of last year.
So many people I speak to, can relate to this last year of the horse being intense. It felt as if we were trying to hold onto the reins but we were not even quite sure how fast the horse was going!
My clients often ask me, how can you really gauge your year from the moon? This is mother earths natural cycle-the moon. So it makes so much sense to allow yourself to surrender to the rhythms and tides, rather than the dates and intellect. Well to me anyway...and to a 5000 year old culture like China.
So, how is it already feeling different? This is the year of the goat. And I have been feeling its steadiness for a few weeks now, as my life comes into more balance and stability. The goat represents a more yin energy, allowing us to go into more of a nurturing, passive place of serenity within our lives. I am not in any way an astrologist and I am still learning so much, and will continue to do so. But I am quite sensitive to our environment, which is why I find it so useful to learn these aspects of our world. And why I feel to share with you all what I have felt and learnt.
I find that sometimes we can be feeling a certain way, and not quite understanding why. We can be dumped in a wave of whitewash, and have no rational explanation of why we are being so affected. By discovering that others too have been feeling the sensitivities of the moon cycle and the astrological influences, it is comforting on so many levels. This is why community is so so important and I am consistently grateful that I live in the Byron Shire where this way of viewing the world is shared so commonly and easily.
One important factor which my Mum recently reminded me, which I felt was really potent to remember; is that we cannot completely give away our power to astrology and the moon. Yes, it affects us. But by allowing yourself to lose control because of it, or validate unrighteous behaviour because "the moon was in Scorpio.", is not real surrender. To surrender is to trust, and be held, but still in your power. And since being reminded of this, I have noticed how easily those around me and myself, fall into this trap. Let's keep the balance and remember that astrology is still a tool for us to be able to go deeper in understanding ourselves, which is the ultimate goal.
So wishing you all a Happy New Year-for this new moon, and new year, it is a perfect time to really sit with your intentions, manifest what it is your really want to focus on for the year.
Many blessings to you all, Aloha.
